NORFOLK OPEN CHAMPIONSHIP results - Marriott Sprowston, 28th AugustStuart Ballingall won his 2nd Norfolk Open in three years when he triumphed at the 3rd extra hole in a play-off against The Norfolk's professional Tony Varney. Ballingall notched up 13 birdies in regulation play and this Open success capped a great week which started with him equalling the Royal Norwich course record of 65, and also winning the U18 category in the Faldo Series regional final (clinching a trip to Brazil). By winning the Norfolk Open he also wins the Craske Salver for the best aggregate score in the Open and the Norfolk Amateur Championship (played at Royal West Norfolk G.C., Brancaster, in May). Tony Varney was the only professional in the top seven places as the amateurs dominated the championship.
