Hole in One...............

They are just like buses............. The new, Norfolk County Golf Union Handicap League for 2015 has gone from strength to strength   The final match of the league series was between Royal Norwich and Sprowston Manor. What happened  was an historic moment for two players. Playing the par three 9th at Royal Norwich, Sprowston Manor player Aaron Saddleton had a hole in one and not surprisingly there was much celebration and one would guess an expectation that the hole would be won, however, not phased by this,  Royal Norwich player Mark Avis teed his ball and followed him in for his own hole in one. The odds of this happening are too much for contemplation. Nonetheless, congratulations to both on a remarkable achievement.
Initially the clubs were sorted into four mini-leagues (brackets) playing home and away with the leading points scorers of each going forward to a semi-final.  Well,  we have now reached the semi final stage and everyone has reported on just how enjoyable the whole experience was. In a variation to the earlier league matches the four semi-finalists will go into a draw to establish who plays who for a route to the final. The semi final and final will both be played on the same day at the same venue, this year Weston Park GC. The two semi-finals will be played over 18 holes with the winners of each going on to the final again over 18 holes in the afternoon. The four semi-finalists are: Thetford, Royal Norwich, King's Lynn and Costessey Park.
