Cullington bags Bawburgh ‘OOM’ success
Cullington, part of the Norfolk first team who beat their Suffolk counterparts at the same venue a week earlier, recorded a two-shot success in the scratch event.
The Dereham golfer registered four birdies in his one-under-par round of 71, coming home clear of runner-up Ben Rawsthorne.
The handicap event was won by Bawburgh’s Kevin Webb, who shot a net 69.

Gorman claims County curtain-raiser
JONATHAN GORMAN secured a narrow victory in the season-opening Order of Merit event at Wensum Valley.
In the scratch division Gorman fired a four-over-par 76 to pip fellow Wensum Valley golfer Kane Hindle by a single shot.
Both golfers made the best of local knowledge to share the lead at the turn on three-over. A two-shot swing at the 10th left Gorman in control – although he let a stroke slip at the next to set up a tense finale.
But Gorman kept his composure down the remainder of the stretch to land a hard-earned victory on the Wensum Course.
The handicap division saw a similarly close duel between Bawburgh pair Ben Aldous and David Barnes. Sixteen-handicapper Barnes held the upper hand at the halfway stage, despite a triple bogey at the par-5 ninth. But his one-shot advantage was not enough to stop Aldous – playing off eight – from claiming a one-shot success thanks to an excellent back nine of only one-over.
A total 43 players attended the April 3 curtain-raiser and Norfolk County Golf Union extends its thanks for hosting and its continued support.
