Henry Saddleton and Luke Gilding were the standout players for Norfolk as the team lost out at the Under-16s South East Group showdown.
Norfolk were beaten 2-6 by the winners Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire (BB&O) and also went down 3-5 to Hampshire in the England Golf tournament staged at Aspley Guise Golf Club.
Saddleton produced some superb golf in collecting maximum points. With a 4 and 2 win secured against his Hampshire opponent, he teed up on the 18th hole all square against BB&O.
With the match up for grabs, Saddleton delivered a deft chip to within a couple of inches for a brilliant birdie and clinch a fine 1-up victory.
Gilding also emerged unbeaten on the day. Both of his games went to the final green where he landed a 2-up success against Hampshire and halved with BB&O.
Toby Lewin also put a point on the board, thanks to a 4 and 2 win against Hampshire.
And Louie Raine put behind him a difficult start to claim a half-point from his match-up with a BB&O player.
Jack Johnson also impressed with the quality of his driving on a blustery day and Marley Workman, Louis Smith and Liam Caffyn all demonstrated the grit that has been such a hallmark of the side this season.
Norfolk County Golf Union development officer Sammy Martin said: “It was an excellent effort from the boys and great to see them competing at this level.
“Thank you to all of the boys that have represented the Under-16s this season – also thanks to their coach Greg Caffyn for his commitment to the group.
“We know we have much to do going forward as we seek to raise the bar even higher. But we are excited by the challenge and will do everything we can to ensure this talented group of young golfers achieves its potential.”
