Great Yarmouth and Caister Golf Club became the 2026 Norfolk Scratch Knockout champions with a comeback victory over Barnham Broom.
GY&C trailed 1-2 at the end of the foursomes, but rallied in stirring style in the singles to record an outright 5.5-3.5 triumph at King’s Lynn Golf Club.
Barnham Broom got the better of the morning golf after Terry Simpson and Liam Stubbs got them off to a flying start with a 4 and 2 win in the lead match.
James Hill and Simon Hobbs responded for GY&C as they recorded victory by the same margin.
But the third and final foursomes tie went the way of Matt Taylor and Jamie Black, who posted a narrow 1-up success.
Black teed off first in the afternoon for Barnham Broom and added to his team’s tally with a 2-up win.
But GY&C went unbeaten in the following five matches to turn the tables on their opponents.
Former Norfolk captain Chris White edged to a 2 and 1 win before Thaine Hacon halved with Taylor.
From there it was all GY&C as Hill and Hobbs both surged to 3 and 2 victories ahead of Tom Rutherford’s 4 and 3 triumph in the closing head-to-head.
