NORFOLK teenager Sully Goddard’s fine start to the season continued with an international triumph in Spain.

Goddard took the under-16 honours at the 54-hole WAGR Junior Campeones, staged at the Seve Ballesteros-designed Meaztegi Golf Club.

The Bawburgh Golf Club member fired rounds of 77, 74 and 73 for an eight-over-par total.

Goddard’s overall 224 tally also left him runner-up in the under-18s competition, finishing one stroke back from England’s Mason Barningham.

Goddard, 15, said: “I felt like I played really well in tough conditions, keeping my cool during any rough patches. My score got better with each round.

“We didn’t know if day three was going to go ahead due to fog in the mountains. After a six-hour wait, it finally cleared and I had the opportunity to shoot my best score. My ball striking and putting both came together and I think I hit it pretty good.”

This year, high-achiever Goddard has also broken through into Norfolk’s first team after impressing for the seconds
