Norfolk Seniors on course for title defence

NORFOLK’S senior golfers are just one victory away from retaining their East Anglian title after a comfortable victory over Northamptonshire at Royal Norwich Golf Club.  The hosts maintained their 100 per cent record for the 2022 season with a 9.5-5.5 success in which every member contributed to the positive points tally. With one of the visitors ruled out with a back injury, Norfolk were awarded a walkover in the first foursomes match – and never trailed thereafter.

The morning’s play finished with Norfolk ahead 3.5-1.5 – a lead they had significantly extended by the halfway stage of the singles.

Northants went some way to clawing back the deficit but the final head-to-head saw Mark Jennings closing out with another win for Norfolk. It was Jennings’ second victory on the day – a feat also achieved by Iain Reid.

Norfolk take a break before reconvening on September 19 for their final East Anglia Senior League match away at Lincolnshire.
